While Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) already had its own website for a while, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) now also has its own website. It has some samples, some extensions, links to the MSDN forum and provides resources to some alternative websites with webcasts and more alike.

As promised last week, Enterprise Library for .NET Framework 2.0 has been released on friday. You can download it from here.

And there's a new patterns & practices project: The first Smart Client Baseline Architecture Toolkit deliverables are available to the community.

From the announcement mail:

"We are working on a new project whose goal is to provide comprehensive, end-to-end guidance for building Smart Clients. We know CAB provides a good starting point, but it is certainly not enough. How about adding offline capabilities to a CAB based application? What if you need to add an authorization service? How would you structure a project? How to integrate Enterprise Library blocks?

These are some of the questions we want to provide answers to with this new deliverable.

Also, there is already an interesting amount of content available. As some of you know we have now weekly builds and the third one is ready for download in the project's community site.

This 3rd drop includes:

- A Reference Implementation (a more comprehensive example of a well written CAB application than the BankTeller Quickstart included in CAB)
- A Visual Studio Guidance Package (automation to generate the most common artifacts using GAT right from Visual Studio)
- Some initial documentation
"

K. Scott Allen wrote a Visual Studio 2005 visualizer for displaying the hierarchical relationship of web controls.

Brett Johnson wrote a visualizer for the ASP.NET cache, and a wicked-cool visualizer to render controls.

Pretty cool!

UrlRewritingNet.UrlRewrite is an Open Source Component which allows you certainly to rewrite URLs with ASP.NET 2.0.

UrlRewritingNet.UrlRewrite is based of "ASP.NET HTTP module for URL redirections" of Fabrice Marguerie, and was enhanced and improved by Thomas Bandt and Albert Weinert.

Immediate plans over the next few weeks as the minions get things moved in include:

  • My Site - A place for you to track your own bookmarked sites and projects and generally feel like part of the community
  • Project Help and Hosting - A place to put your stuff if you're a developer and want to show it off. Also a place to look for help from other budding SharePoint developers.
  • Collaboration and Community Projects - A lot of new initiatives that will encompass the entire community both from a contribution perspective and a benefit one.

Microsoft now releases ISO-9660 CD image files that contain all the security and critical updates that are released on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site for Windows and for other Microsoft products. The ISO image files are released at the same time as security and critical updates are released on the Windows Update Web site.

The ISO image files are intended for corporate administrators who:

  • Manage large multinational organizations.
  • Must download multiple individual language versions of each security update.
  • Do not use an automated solution such as Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

By using the ISO image files, administrators can download multiple updates in all languages at the same time.
